Description

In this Level 2 class, you will learn to install WordPress.org on a hosted server, work with WordPress as a full-featured content management system (CMS), customize your site's visual appearance through theme modifications and widget configuration, and extend functionality using plugins. Prior experience with HTML, PHP, and Photoshop is recommended before enrolling.

Course Outline

1. Domains and Hosts

2. Installing WordPress

  • On a hosted server
  • On a local testing server

3. Navigating WordPress

  • Tour of the API and WordPress.org-specific features

4. Configuring WordPress

  • General site settings
  • Customizing permalink structure

5. Creating Sites with WordPress (WP as CMS)

  • Determining when to use posts versus pages

6. Themes and Appearance

  • Installing and activating custom themes
  • Customizing themes through widgets and direct code edits

7. Plugins

  • Searching for, installing, and managing plugins
  • Essential plugins for SEO, contact forms, and site performance

8. User Management

  • Adding users and assigning roles and permissions

Refund Policy

  • In order to receive a refund less 5% cancellation fee for a one- or two-day class, you must notify us at least 5 business days in advance of the first class date of your intention to cancel.
  • To reschedule a class, notify us at least 5 business days in advance of the first class date.

In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
