Join us in a workshop in creating slip casting molds and pieces. This workshop will teach how to make a simple 2-piece slip casting mold. Slip-cast molds are used for production pottery and allow ceramic artists the ability to create exact replicas of a piece to save production time and provide consistency
with a product.
Class 1: We will teach how to prepare the object for mold making, learn how to mix and pour the plaster and go through the step by step process of casting the parts to create a finished two-part mold.
Class 2: Once molds have dried, we will teach how to prepare the slip and pour to cast. We will also learn coloring techniques using colored slip to enhance visual effects while pouring the slip.
Class 3: We will teach how to demold and clean the seams of the object. Repair tears or imperfections.
