Class Description

Description

While conventional medicine has become reliant on using medications to treat symptoms rather than root causes, new movements in medicine (“integrative,” “complementary,” and “functional” approaches) seek to look below the surface to find the underlying factors of disease. More and more research is pointing to the fact that some of the main impediments to optimal brain function have their source in the gut, where imbalances in bacterial ecology and/or inflammation can dramatically impair our mental acuity and psychological states.

Industrialized, processed food production, synthetic additives, and over-exposure to antibiotics have radically stressed our digestive tracts, but the right “elimination diet” undertaken with experienced guidance can help us take the diagnosis and treatment of a number of common health conditions into our own hands.

During this class, we will implement this 21-day diet and have the support of a doctor and a group to help us commit and stick to a three-week elimination diet in which we will cut a number of the most common offenders that trigger sensitivities in many people from our diets to gauge the results on our health and state of mind.
