Description

Salt Casting is the art of melting metal to its molten form and then pouring it over salt. This creates spontaneous forms and unusual shapes. In this workshop we learn how to recycle metal, create many different alloys, pour metal into different forms, and fabricate jewelry out of the salt cast pieces.  Your old jewelry and scraps (gold, silver, copper) can be cast into new and wondrous forms. The water cast pieces can be made into earrings, pendants, and pins during the work shop.

Q: Can I make up a class if I miss one? 
A: Yes, there are make up classes on Monday nights from 6-9 PM, or by appointment during the day during the week, so missing a class is no problem.

A: No

Q: Can I take home what I make in this class?
A: Yes

Q: Is this class hands on?
A: Yes

Q: Are materials provided and included in the cost of the class?  
A:  Extra materials will be provided.

Q: Is there anything else I should be aware of to be prepared for class?
A: Students should wear clothing that they don't mind getting a little messy (you most likely won't get dirty in class but just in case). Students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil, their ideas and some sketches.

Refund Policy

  • Full refund (less 5% processing fee) up to 11 business days before the start date.
  • Reschedule requests at least 11 business days before the start should not incur the 5% fee.
  • Cancellation within 11 business days will receive a credit redeemable for one year.
  • Cancellation within 6 business days is non-refundable.
  • We will offer a make-up date for missed class that can be scheduled within a 6 month period.

We understand that flexibility is important, and will do our best to accommodate within reason and our capacity.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

  • Salt Casting

    Salt casting was a great class! Kate is a great teacher, and I appreciated the fact that it was a small class, and Kate was able to provide plenty of individual attention. I've only had a little bit of experience with metal and torch work, but I found the pace comfortable, and I think we were all able to complete two pieces in the 6-hour class. I'll definitely look for more classes at this location.
