Class Description

Description

Escape to the vibrant streets of Thailand and learn to create two beloved classics in this hands-on cooking class: Pad see ew and the traditional papaya salad (som-tum). Hosted by our resident Thai chef instructor, you will gain unique insights into the cultural history of Thai cuisine and learn authentic traditional techniques directly from an expert source.

In this engaging and interactive class, you will be guided through each step of recreating these classic dishes, beginning with the popular flat rice noodle dish, pad see ew. Served with chicken or tofu and Chinese broccoli, you will discover how to prepare this beloved takeout favorite while maintaining its authentic, complex flavors. Learn the essential skills of seasoning and properly cooking noodles, which is an art form in itself. Next, you will prepare the famous papaya salad, a perfect palate cleanser. You will master both the traditional smacking technique with a mortar and the contemporary hybrid method of smacking in a bag, making the cooking experience fun and interactive. Once you have created your masterpieces, you will plate, garnish, and taste your creations alongside your new foodie friends.

No cooking experience is required. We provide all equipment and ingredients, which are simple to find at local markets and many home kitchens. Our classes emphasize fun and instruction while remaining casual and approachable, not overly demanding.

Note: This class requires a minimum booking of two participants. If you are registering as a group, please make the reservation under one name for the full group.

Please arrive fifteen minutes early for check-in, particularly if you are part of a larger group. Beverages are available for purchase from the venue and are not included in the ticket price.

My boyfriend and I had such a great time at this class! Saruj was an amazing instructor-- so organized with clear instructions, and hilarious, which set a really great tone for the class. We both felt like we could replicate what we learned at home and are so excited to make delicious pad see ew and papaya salad on our own.
