  • Eric’s Virtual Beers Around the World class was awesome. For starters, he picked an awesome variety of beers. I drink a lot of beer, visit a lot of breweries and beer shops, but it was great to be (re-)introduced to some styles that are easy to forget and appreciate when you lean towards IPAs and there are so many to try these days. The beers were great and he also had good reason to choose each, so the background story on each was informative. And of course, he found a way to fit my juicy IPA preferences into the mix. Judging by my girlfriend’s experience, the class is great for the non-beer enthusiast as well. Looking forward to doing another class tailored to other beer interests with Eric and some friends who are into beer.
  • Hogwarts: Potions & Cheese

Such a cute class!!! Well thought out and organized. The instructors were funny, warm and knowledgeable. The pairings were perfect. Would def recommend this class and the Bedford Cheese Shop.
  • The instructor was engaging and entertaining. I learned a lot of the science about hops. Would recommend to anyone who has a curiosity about beer.
  • VERY interesting course, great and friendly teachers and superb beer tasting.
  • Very helpful and informative course.
  • Winter Beers and Cheese With Stinky Bklyn

I had a great time in this class! The two instructors were very engaging and knowledgeable on the cheeses and beers we tasted. We tried 6 very different pairing combinations, ranging from black IPA and blue cheese to black currant cider and goat cheese. Portion sizes were healthy. I plan on going back soon!
  • American Craft Beers

Terrific class. Instructors were very knowledgeable and passionate about the the craft of beer making, breaking down the process, sharing anecdotes, and lots of references along the way! Loved the enthusiasm. Highly recommend.
  • Stouts, Porters, and Brown Ales

My girlfriend purchased this class for me as a Christmas present and we attended in March. Truly was a great experience. Even with a last minute change in venue (due to World of Beer closing!), everything went off smoothly and we definitely got the educational experience we were looking for. Evie and Mickey are a great team and if you are looking to learn more about what goes into the making of the beer you drink, I highly recommend taking one of their classes. You will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to taking another one of their classes.
  • Belgium Beers

LOVED this class. My girlfriend and I went together as her Christmas present to me (yeah, she's the best), and we were the only ones in that particular class. Mickey and Evie had this awesome two-sided approach to teaching us about the beers - Mickey would give us the historical background and explain the flavor profiles of each sample, then Evie would come in with the scientific explanations. They even had brochures for each of us, which was a really nice touch. I'm a huge beer fanatic and my girlfriend likes beer AND is very science-oriented, so the class overall greatly appealed to both of us. We got along so well with the two of them that we ended up going out for drinks with them afterwards :) I look forward to taking another class soon!
  • knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic instruction by people who love good beer!
  • Beer Appreciation

The class was great. I learned a ton about the creation of beer and all of the different types. Now I know which kinds of beers to look for when I'm at a bar and they helped me discover a bunch of new beers to buy around the city. I would recommend this class to anyone with even the slightest interest in beer. My wife loved the class and she's not a typical "beer person"!
  • The course and the teacher were extremely informative and fun. The tasting part put the preceding lecture and slides into practical use and helped illustrate the differences between different hops. Warmly recommended!
  • Informative and entertaining with great instructors.
  • Beer Appreciation

Had a great time at the class. A friend and I went as a birthday present from my girlfriend. I would recommend it to anyone interested in beer. We were each ordered a flight of beers designed with our favorite flavors in mind, and, after that, ordered a final beer based on our reactions to those of the flight. Everything was spot on, and I was exposed to some beers outside my comfort zone that I really enjoyed. I consider myself pretty beer-savvy, but I learned a lot from the experience. The experts explained all about the chemistry involved in brewing beer, its history, and distinguished many of the different types. They were clear and concise, and they made sure we understood everything. We were given a pamphlet and pen to jot down notes, so now I can remember which beers to buy for myself. The experts also happily answered any questions we could think of, even those relating to other forms of alcohol. Overall, it was analogous to eating a gourmet meal with the chef who prepared it (while discussing the flavors and ingredients with as much nuance as you would like). It really made for an enjoyable evening. Not only was the beer great, but I appreciated its flavor in fine detail.
  • Beer Appreciation

Mickey was very knowledgeable and had a very welcoming personality. Looking forward to taking another class with him in the future.
  • American Craft Beers

Bought this class as a birthday gift for my sister, who really enjoys trying new beers. The class was held at Beer Authority right next to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The instructors were friendly and warm. The course included a flight of four beers. The instructor even purchased an additional beer for us because he thought it was really special and we just had to try it. We shared all of the beers - my sister and I -- so we were able to try 9 different ones in total.
  • very informative and fun
  • Informative, friendly staff. Learned a lot and had a fun time
  • NYC Craft Beer Week $10 Tasting w/ NY State Beers

My friends & I had such a great time at the beer tasting! All of the beers were delicious, as were the bourbon & tater tots. The place was really cool, and the people running the event were knowledgable and fun. I would definitely be interested in attending another!
  • $10 Tasting w/ Smuttynose Brewing Company & Bourbon

Class was a lot of fun and couldn't believe it only cost $10. Seriously, I got like 3 beers and a delicious whiskey for $10...in NYC. That doesn't really happen. The class/tasting was informal but informative. For those who haven't been to Idle Hands, it's downstairs in building in Alphabet City, reminds you of rock n' roll, a good way. A very eclectic crowd, but everyone friendly and interesting. Probably not the best class for someone looking for most in-depth whiskey lesson, but a hell of a bargain/fun thing to do on a Weds night.
  • Learning to Beer and Bourbon

Great class! Awesome beer, yummy tots and innovative way to pair beer with music. Would definitely recommend.
