Lead Guitar Level 3: Mastering Lead Techniques
Play with Precision, Confidence, and Expression
In this drop-in class, you’ll move beyond pentatonics into a deeper and more expressive understanding of lead guitar. You’ll master major and minor scale shapes, learn to use arpeggios and chord tones for melodic and intentional solos, and build your ability to "play the changes" across the neck.
This level focuses on connecting musical knowledge to technique, with interval-based soloing, ear training, and repertoire designed to challenge and inspire. You’ll refine advanced techniques like two-string bends, sweep picking, advanced legato, and multiple approaches to phrasing, and practice integrating them into your own solos.
As always, you’ll get hands-on experience improvising in a warm, structured, and musical environment, with practical licks, examples, and lots of playing time.
By the end of this class, you’ll be soloing with more nuance, more command of the fretboard, and a deeper understanding of how to sound great in any context.
PREREQUISITES: 40+ sessions of Lead Guitar Level 2 or placement based on skill assessment. You should be comfortable with all five positions of the pentatonic scale, root targeting, rhythmic variation (including 16th notes), and soloing over chord changes using pentatonics. You must also be fluent in reading tablature (TAB) and be able to play the Lead Guitar Level 3 Warm Up. Not sure if you’re ready?
